Many of my prototypes are driven by a host computer, each being a co-processor, of sorts. This one is no different. Here is today's prototype with stepper motor drive.

This clock is based on gear ratios cooked up by my friend, Lucas Whipple.

Lucas walked
me through his gear ratios. I was so thrilled by how the numbers fit
together, I had to build one for
myself.
We can stack up a couple layers to control the radial and longitudinal deformation of our gears. That was just the thing needed to get Lucas' nested planetary gears running smoothly. Now, I want a 24 hour dial; with star positions, planet conjunctions, moon phases, tidal charts...

To make the time human readable, Lucas will be adding some dials and needles. Hopefully, we'll be seeing some of his mechanical drawings soon.
The dial arrangement reminds be of British quiz show, QI. That's why I'm calling Lucas' clock, "The Quite Interesting Clock".
