Robot Love

To build a computer that loves...
The structure reacquires a recursive self awareness that does not terminate.  This opens up a realm of being that exists yet is unprovable.  Indeed, there exists a finite language with infinity possibilities of expression; the digital infinity.

The infinite use of finite means...

My mind wanders for a moment to building a computer that can love.  I'm not talking about a chatbot that can mimic love or regular expression parser to identify love from text messages, but a computer that can truly love.

First off, although I believe everyone has the ability to experience true Love, I don't believe everyone has known true love.  Also, I want to make it clear I'm not talking about love you might have for your God, this is not about theology.  What I'm talking about is Love between physical beings, beings that are aware of themselves and the others around them, more than that, Love is the desire to be together, to exist as one. 

The beings need not be humans.  I've seen true Love amongst my cats, Ada and Babbs.  They lick and cuddle each other in the most gentle ways.  They clearly enjoy being together and cry out for each other when lonely.

I don't believe in anyway that Love is a delusion, anymore than life itself is a delusion.  It is real, it is definable, it is indeed physical.  That's not to say that humans can be delusional and think that they are inside of Love when they are not.  If you discover that is the case then there is still hope for you, but first you must try.  It takes a commitment to caring and feeding to grow a mind machine that can truly Love and be loved.
