Transit of Venus

Sexus amorem pulchritudinis fecunditate fortunae victorque; the transit of Venus!

Images from our windy rooftop observatory in San Francisco.

The first sighting was at 15:07 PST and Venus was fully visible at 15:22 PST. It's super windy on the roof so the Professor and myself ran back inside to fortify ourselves with Chocolate and Surgical Sprits.  Somehow this lead to the the idea of Polynesian navigation, Marshallese Stick Charts.

Thus a new, or rather old, sort of stick "Theo Jansen" astronomy computer is formed.  We get some useful dials and symbol attachments to solve some pesky display problems too.  Astronomy, the monolith of maths. ;-)
