Printing a printer with a printer

Lately I've been designing robots that make themselves.
Z-axis "Hipbone"
It's a rather captivation process, I make a machine that makes a machine to make a machine.

At some point it eventually terminates.

Linear Rod Support
I'm using Openscad to design the parts.  Openscad is very much a programmer's take on CAD, but maybe that's will I like it.  There are some oddities when it comes to making polyhedrons and unions of rotated copies, but for the most part it makes sense.

Printing a printer
Printing out the parts for the Y axis took about 5hours.

A snug fit.
This robot uses OpenBeam 1515 extruded aluminium build system.  The robots tell me that they love this stuff and I can see why.  It's so easy to put together and reconfigure.  The standard 3mm hardware means I can pop out to the hardware store if I need a nut or bolt to complete an assembly.
