The Shape of Things to Come

Phasors on stun.  This is a prototype for differentially geared gimbals.  The phasor effect is triggered by the video. 

Added some legs to make it easier to crank.  It needs a camera mount and other cosine triggered audio effects.

...then tentacles grew from the egg sack.  These tentacles are a simple sine wave, phase shifted 15 degrees (360/24) between each tentacle.

Now that most of the functional parts of the fractal clockwork computer have been sorted, I've been focusing on the structure of the gear trains and general ascetics.  This zeppelin was a study for these structures.

This just as well could have been a rocket.

This multi-axis gimbals system is a prototype for a solar powered heliostat and most importantly the display systems for the fractal clockwork computer.  The gimbals move a mirror in the theta and phi directions.  A laser beam traces the output functions.

Here's giving it a bit of a shake.  The joints are simple wooden bushings but the actions is free and smooth.  Yeah, shake it!

The next version will have the axis offset at 60 degrees rather than the current 90 and each nested layer will be driven by a differential gear train.
